Robert Martin book

Martin has a lot of detail on R's employment in places they worked together

Baltimore

From 1986-0307-Are-You-a-Robot-Baltimore

I wanted to mention before I start that I lived here quite a few years ago, and I worked at Glenn L. Martin. I don't know if it still exists or not. I worked on the airplanes for World War II as a metallurgist. I worked as a chemist for Julian P. Frieze here, I was fairly young at the time.

Pre-Experience

From 1991-1006-Augies-Apartment-Raleigh

I worked on the development of streptomycin. They developed it in Denver, Colorado at the National Jewish Hospital. I had the whole process practically to myself, reducing this from streptomyces griseus, which was a mold that they grew. Then they centrifuged it.

From 1991-Unitarian-Church-Raleigh

And when I got there I got a job, it was down along Lake Washington’s edge, a little outfit called the Seattle Tennis Club; they were all millionaires who went in there, and drank more expensive drinks. Nobody played tennis; I don’t know why they called it a tennis club – they just went there and drank, and danced a little.

Also from From 1991-1006-Augies-Apartment-Raleigh

Yes, I had quit my job. I don’t know if I had given formal notice, but I was planning to leave. I can’t remember that part about it. I left, though. I had to get out. I had a compulsion to get away from Seattle

Post-Experience, 1947

Lots of stuff in Bob Martin's book.

From 1991-1006-Augies-Apartment-Raleigh -- see footnote

After the experience in Seattle, Rose worked for some months as a layout inspector at Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Company, then briefly as a waiter in Medina, Ohio, and then joined Martin at B&W in Alliance, Ohio (renting a room in Hartville). He returned to West Virginia in the fall of 1948. See Peace to the Wanderer, p. 23-28.
